LimeWire is a free program that anyone can download from the internet. It is very similar to what Napster was in the late 1990's except users can download much more than music. Users can download computer programs and video as well. LimeWire has some legal issues, but officials say that the prevalent problem is with people downloading illegal content.

Computer expert Frank Pieczatkiewicz says that LimeWire does have legal uses.
"There is a lot of music artists trying to get their stuff distributed so they turn to the internet to do that," said Pieczatkiewicz.

LimeWire is a peer to peer program. What that means is, when you download the program onto your computer, you can connect to the internet and hook up to someone else's computer. Once hooked up to their computer, you can look through the files that they are sharing through their LimeWire program. At that point, you can take whatever files you choose.

One of the problems with the program is that the files are often purposely mislabeled and users never know what they are going to get when they complete their download.
"You could innocently download a piece of music and it just crashes your whole computer," said Pieczatkiewicz.

In addition to the dangerous computer viruses, LimeWire is also a link to a variety of illegal material including everything from copyrighted material to child pornography.
Southwest Florida law enforcement officials say they have seen a big problem with the program. They say that they are seeing more and more illegal porn cases involving LimeWire.

It seems that now Limewire is in a fight with the Cartel its lie time again.
No doubt some low moraled journalists who are looking for stories that help their own bank balance will run such lame stories but the problem of child porn is internet wide and not reliant on P2P networks for material distribution.

glad to know that limewire is the only one with child porn on it, it's not like it's on every single p2p network in existence...

I'm you don't want to know what %age of searches done on winmx are for child porn...

Lime Wire LLC, maker of the famous file-sharing program, seeks an exceptional Senior Back-end Web Application Developer. The right candidate will be a high-energy individual, open to new ideas, self-motivated, a quick study, and willing to develop new skills, while constantly improving upon existing abilities. Must also be a strong multi-tasker with exceptional time-management skills. We're not a typical company and this is not your average web developer position. Likewise, you'll have to be unusually talented to make it in the door.

You will be working as part of a team to develop a scalable media portal with social networking features
Our workplace is casual and while we work hard, there is always a little time for a game of poker or a summer party on our garden roof deck..

Are they gearing up for a battle with the RIAA on the tech front or have they lost someone vital ?

PS : I Just had a thought ,perhaps they may be requiring this guy to help make the network file filter work ...
