Trouble with ports
« on: October 29, 2006, 09:59:27 am »
Hi

I've installed WinMX 3.54 b4, Comodo Firewall 2.3.6.81 and my conecction is WiFi to a router to my cable provider.

WinMX connects ok to the network but says that the ports are closed, so I made the following changes:

- Comodo allows WinMX make any connection, it has freedom to TCP and UDP.
- Router have "port forwarding" to the ports:
     - from 6699 to 6699, both UDP/TCP
     - from 6257 to 6257, both UDP/TCP

WinMX says:
- "Unable to send or receive UDP datagrams on any port"
- "Unable to accept incoming TCP connections"

In practice, WinMX connects to the network, I can search, I can try download but I cannot upload, and I cannot download really.

Is this correct to my connection? I'm forgetting anything?

Thanks in advance.

Paco.

Sorry...

CORRECT: I'm downloading and uploading correctly... why WinMX tell the error messages?

I'm sorry for the mistake in my previous post :-(

Thanks.

Paco.

HI Pacoj

First of all be sure you WinMX says Patch Operational at the top under you WinMX version, if not then be sure to install a patch that will protect you and the network from here:
https://www.winmxgroup.com/

When this is finished then open your WinMX Settings > Incoming TCP and set that to port 6699
Then open In/Out UDP and set this to 6257

If you can, please correct the router Protocol settings as below
- Router have "port forwarding" to the ports:
     - from 6699 to 6699, both TCP only
     - from 6257 to 6257, both UDP only

If there is not an option for specifying the Protocol then just make sure you have two seperate rules for each.

Give this a shot then let us know..you should be able to get a primary after this

In my case, it says "unable" for both incoming & the in/out.  I can download fine, but I'm not sure anyone will be able to download from me.
