Preventing Multiple Uploads
« on: November 10, 2006, 12:08:01 pm »
I frequently find the same user, on multiple networks, uploading the same file from me. I can't see any value in this, and it prevents others from uploading. Is there any way to regulate this situation? Thanks.

Try messaging that user and tell him to stop.
If that doesn't work, then ignore him.
It irritates me a lot too espicially when they get the message. Still they don't stop. Or else, you can unshare that file temporarily

Cheers :P

You could use MXMonitor and set it to auto-ignore his username.

I don't want to Ignore the user entirely. I just want to filter out the multiple requests that are obviously being queued automatically (without me having to monitor uploads myself). Does MXMonitor do this?

yes, mxmonitor has an option to automatically clear users who queue for more than x uploads at once

My no was in the context of ignoring a user who makes multiple requests the same file from different servers.
But yes, as Km said, you  can ignore users who make multiple requests files.
Unfortuantely, this will also ignore users who queue up many different files as well at the same time...

Cheers :P

I'm going to make a request of the MXMonitor people to address the situation of users requesting the same file using multiple servers. It shouldn't be difficult to add a filter (of course, lots of things are easy when I don't have to do them myself)! Anyway, if other forum readers feel the same way, you might make similar requests. Thanks for the info. :)

Well you can make the request, but there hasn't been a new release of MxM in a very long time, i strongly suspect that development has ceased.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed.

if it ain't broke, don't fix it :-)

mxmonitor works and has a lot of features so probably doesn't need much done to it, a few little things some people would like but changing stuff always breaks something else so...

(btw anyone going to comment on the graphics after a while, that's a windows XP bug, not a winmx or mxmoni bug, and would take a change to how mxmonitor works to overcome)
