Scroll up then you'll see it. But it doessn't matter anyways, as audio and video files are included by default when you share

Hi Glencairn1242

The songs will still be on the PC, so like sam said its just a matter of sharing said songs correctly.  More then likely you have changed from 3.53 to the newer 3.54 WinMx version and sharing files is a bit different there..if this is the case

Have a look through the tutorial for
For 3.54 beta 4: https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/sharing_on_354.html

Reshare all the files this way, you shouldnt need to mess with the default file types unless your files where in  .wma format (Windows Media Audio), that would have had to been added to any version of WinMX you used before and is done in the same way with 3.54.

If resharing after reading this doesnt help post back

i have finally forwarded my ports TCP=37439 and UDP=58350. I had to go through two routers. One being VONAGE and the other being Linksys. I finally have a Primary connection. I can download and upload okay. P=7 and S=0 and spm=11,856. I notice that I don't ever get and secondary users routed throgh my primary connection. S=0 is alsways the case. I was wandering if I need to change something in my settings to help out the Network. I was once a Primary user a couple of years ago and always had several secondarys connections. S=5 was usually the minumum then. Has this changed since WINMX has changed. I was just wondering. Thanks for any help that you can offer.

It can take time for secondaries to connect to you. Give it about an hour or so. You should see it to about 4-5 as usual.
The delay is to weed out unstable primaries.
If your searches, uploads and downloads work fine, then all is well I think.

Cheers :P

Thanks, you're right. I checked this morning and I had S=4 and P=9 and SPM=8,033. My d/ls are going great and I updated my PEER GUARDIAN II and added some ip addresses to my list manager to block. I notice that i have only on average about 11-15 people in my queue at any given time. What do I need to change to increase this. Considering the number of files that I have and remembering in the past that it was always over 100 most of the time-I am thinking that maybe people aren't seeing me on the network. Also, do I need to change or play around with my throttle process interval  in winmx. It usually always on 200 m/s. Do i need to change this or does it even matter? Is there a tutorial that explains this more in detail? Thanks for you help.

Hi SIlver Surfer,

I have a few ideas, but for the most part you sound like your set up fine, however, the Peerguardian does concern me, they aren't what they used to be and are part of the reason that the patch your using (if you have winmxgroup 3.0 as i suspect) has a built in block list maintained for WinMX specifically.  While your using WinMX I would leave PG2 off, frankly I would always leave it off but .. thats me.

Recently we found that the Bluetack folks that make the blocklists PG2 uses were adding IPs as we added them to our list, thats all fine and dandy until you realize a few things.
1. The riaa hired companies doing the flooding are routing through normal ISPs on Dynamic IPs.  Meaning when they change those IPs they are placed back into a residential customer pool.  If these are not maintained closely and removed when not in use by the RIAA companies anymore your blocking more and more potential users from yourself.
2.  When we complained about this.. nicely I might add, they responded by places ALL the peer caches everyone uses to connect on the block lists. When we complained about that they blocked our personal and site IPs also.. really great folks over there.. lol

Apparently your not allowed to complain, or make suggestions so now we are all on the list, and at times you may find it impossible to connect while using peer guardian or even impossible to get to this site or the WinMX Group sites.

We for the above reasons dont feel Bluetack can be responsible or trusted and until PG2 make and host their own lists dont recommend it.

About the Throttle Process Interval, this is best left to defaults and is rarely recommend to be changed.  As far as I am concerned for the most part unless you find WinMX using too much bandwidth for uploads when your hosting or something going on like that, I would not change anything here.. leave it all set to Unlimited.  If your concerned about bandwidth limits then see this page for tests and recommendations
https://www.winmxworld.com/scripts/bandwidth/   << best run with MX off.

Queues are not what they used to be, you have to consider that the network did loose lots of users when the FrontCode Caches were taken offline, however on that same note (and I always think of that Kevin Cosner line from Postman when i say this) Things are getting better.  We see new users daily in the help rooms not to mention the new users coming here.. so I dont think its a settings problem just something that needs more time.

The main settings that you may want to take a look at that will have a true effect on your P= and S= numbers are those located in Settings > WinMX Peer Network > Allocated bandwidth.  Here is where you can set how many P= you will have KB/s OUT and how many S= you will get with KB/s IN, a good balanced settings is around 9-10 KB/s Out.

Hope this helps with some things and if not ask away..
