Here we go again, yet another "cash grab" attempt by the Media Mafia.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6160414.stmUniversal Music Group is suing MySpace - claiming the online social network site is encouraging its users to illegally share music and music videos.
It accuses MySpace of allowing people to illegally upload videos and of providing the technology for users to share the content with others.
But MySpace said it acted legally and dismissed the "meritless litigation".
But Universal's lawsuit, lodged in a US district court, claims that MySpace "encourages, facilitates and participates in the unauthorised reproduction, adaptation, distribution and public performance".
In a statement it added: "Our music and videos play a key role in building the communities that have created hundreds of millions of dollars of value for the owners of MySpace.
I must say 99% of content on MySpace and YouTube that I have bothered to view or listen to is home made, who in heck wants to post or view the Cartels mass produced rubbish ?
I suspect if the uploaders IP,s are traced they will come back to the rights owners or their agents, as it does seem strange they want to sue the messenger rather than those uploading the files illegaly.
If anyone is thinking of purchasing any CD's this xmas give it a miss and make do with the radio until what you want is reduced in the sales , lets not aid these anti-consumer companies to rip us off.
