I have winmx 3.54 with all the patches on a secondary connection. I can stay connected until I start a download and then I am dropped or get the "connection reset by peer" reply. How do I fix this...

Does this happen all the time?
or sometimes, or to a select few users?

It happens continually. I have recently uninstalled and then reinstalled winmx to no avail.

have you got a router or is your firewall allowing full access for WinMX ?
the firewall might be sencitive enough to block downloads, like internet explorer blocks pop-up links when you try to download from some saftware sites.

What version of winmx are you using?
Which firewalls do you have?

I downloaded from the winmx group page... winmx 3.54 with patch. I have satellite but I'm not sure if this is a router or not. I checked my firewall which is microsoft xp and winmx as well as UPnP framework are allowed exceptions. I do not however have specific ports for winmx. I have been unsuccessful in finding matiching ports. I also have symantic anti virus. I can stay connected until I attempt to download and then I am kicked off. Any suggestions?

there's a fair chance satellite gear will be acting as a router, there's also a HIGH chance that any satellite isp will be interfering with winmx traffic (and any other p2p program) i would suggest a visit to the help room.. we can at least determine if your modem is also a router & see you through getting a correctly configured setup, unfortunately with a satellite isp, this won't guarantee a fully working winmx.. it's a case of trying & seeing.
