Primary and secondary connections
« on: November 30, 2006, 10:52:48 pm »
I can connect to either primary or secondary with no problems, but I find that I get more 'hits' using secondary connection. Is this normal, or have I not set winmx up properly.
I was given to believe that the primary connection was preferable......... :?

I think you are suppose to get better results in primary :)

But if you do get some results atleast (10+), then everything is fine I suppose.

there is nothing as good or bad in primary or secondary, nor for that matter a preference.
It's more according to your needs that you choose your connection type. Primary conections are more stable and hence they are better.

Cheers :P
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)

on primary every search result is a UDP packet, some people find (especially with the channel list) that some routers or firewalls (mostly routers though) block the flood for whatever reason, causing them to not get the entire lot

just use whichever is best for you, the only major difference is that primary loads the channel list faster and that when loading a long list on secondary you might have to wait before doing something else

Sygate & Zone Alarm are both prone to the malady KM described above particularly on slow hardware, or on computers that are loaded heavily (lots or programs running) sometimes setting to allow all traffic for duration of search or to fetch channel list helps in thesee situations.
