Limewire To start Active Filtering
« on: November 17, 2006, 01:38:38 am »
Well it had to happen folks, to ensure they are not the victims of cash raiding by the media Cartels Limewire have had to filter their search results.

As part of the continuing effort to work with the software industry, LimeWire has begun to filter many Adobe products including Acrobat, Photoshop, and After Effects. This marks a significant step toward a positive relationship with software producers and means a safer peer-to-peer process for LimeWire users.

We’re looking forward to cooperating with Adobe and continuing to improve the LimeWire experience.

I understand in some respects how winmx technologies felt when faced with closure, its near impossible to filter search results in real time on winmx, on the other hand we are not all out for free swag and booty as the Cartels claim to the press so why should a filter be necessary or even morally right if it means the loss of free speech and the opportunity of users to exchange their own home made or free content.

We have seen how reckless the fake file flooders are on the network when it comes to results for certain keywords, whats to say anything will change, I see this as a retrograde step.

it means instead of 50% real files and 50% viruses etc when trying to get files like that, it would be 100% viruses... removes the element of risk involved there, no more gambling ;-)

FrostWire is an open-source peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing program. It uses the Gnutella network and is heavily based on the better-known LimeWire program.
No filtering using FrostWire ,it's a open source alternative to LimeWire & is completely free. ;)

I've never really liked Limewire to be honest. To me it is a major RAM hog.
