Making a Primary Connection
« on: January 03, 2007, 11:42:51 am »
Hi,
Looking for help on how to mak a primary connection.
It asks me for TCP and UDP information.  What is this and how do I find it?
Hope somebody can help.
Thanks, Will.

If you have a router, go to www.portforward.com/routers.htm and see your router model there.
A tutorial on how to forward ports in winmx will be given there.

Default ports are:
TCP 6699
and
UDP 6257

After you have done that, go to winmx>settings>Incoming TCp> and select the listen to ... port ... blah blah.
Put the port number of your TCP port there.
Do the same thing for winmx>Settings>UDP conenctions and select the option and enter your port number there.

Cheers :P

Can you connect via secondary alright?
You need to reboot the router after you have forwarded the ports.

Cheers :P

will,

that sounds to me as if your ports still are not open.
For the bt home hub Me_Here made a tutorial  here, please make sure everything is set up according to that.

Also I don't know about the version of norton you're using, but take a look here and see if it matches what you have.
