Author Topic: Keep getting "WinMX has encountered a problemn and needs to close" error (Read 2609 times)

I have the error files saved by Windows and am attaching them. Can anybody interpret these and help?

I am running a Core 2 Extreme system with 6GB RAM and a 10Mb connection.

Love I need to know a few things.. unfortunatly a screen shot of the error would be better since once you save to a text file as you have here it lists all files contained in the winmx folder.. The error box that comes up is sometimes helpful because it usually lists the file involved.. but not always.

Love what I want to know is what version of WinMX are you using?
How many incompletes do you have ?
What patch are you using?

Sorry to have taken so long in replying. If anything the problem is getting worse. I am now attachingerror messages and error reports from one of about 8 crashes today.

I am running 3.54 beta. I thought my number of incompletes muight be a problem. There were an awful lot. I've dramatically reduced it now to around 100. It's making no difference and I have very successsfully run WinMX with twice that many in the past.

Never sure how to define this patch business. I d/l my last instllation as the "Install-3.0-3.54b4.exe" file

I also did a complete uninstall, reboot and reinstall of WinMX yesterday. It crashed within an hour!

I thnk something might be preventing or locking up winmx.
Desperate times call for desperate measures lol
Try disabling all security, antivirus, firewall and spyware protection and see if that helps (check xp firewall as well.)
If ok, turn them on one by one and see what's causing the problem.
If not, don't forget to turn everything on lol

I also am having the same problem, "coencidently" it has only started happening since upgrading to internet explorer 7? Perhaps it is a setting in that I am missing that is causing the problem?

Thier was a issue wid winmx and internet explorer 7 which was addressed in the new patch, by any chance are you running a old patch, if you are update to the latest one 3.0 available www.winmxgroup.com their

Thx for all advice. Since last posted on this I have a new router and a new ISP. Everything is working great (300k d/ls at times). Still getting crashes periodically. I have attached error messages/files from last two. First batch in this post. Second batch in next post
