Changing player to Winamp
« on: February 16, 2007, 10:08:44 am »
I am using Windows 2000 and would like to change my player from realplayer to winamp.  I cannot use the instructions stated in a previous post for use with windows XP.   The individual file does not give me the option to "open with".    It only allows me to "open" and goes directly to the player and plays

Hi frdrckmr,
the one thing i can say is, without clicking on any music, open real player and in options or settings or preferences, there is probably a small tick box "make this the default player" uncheck that, then open winamp, in options >> preferences and click the small box "restore file associations at winamp start-up" that will look for the mp3's etc as default

Alternatively, uninstall real player and reinstall winmap
That ought to reset files to open with winamp (worked for me when I had windows 98 :) )
But if your copy of real player is pro and you happened to have purchased it, then note the searial number and keep it somewhere so that you can reinstall it in the future if you want to......

Cheers :P
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)

hold shift when you right click (works on all systems that don't show the open with on a normal right click)
