Does this happen always to any file or only that particular file?
If you are talking about file error 5, then I don't think pretty much anything an be done about it.....
Does reinstalling help the crashing problem?
Also, are the files larger than 2 gb?

Cheers :P
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)

Hi,

Yes it happens all the time. I only collect MP3's now so the files are not large. I did reinstall a time ago and it solved the error code 5 for a while but it started again shortly after.

It was about three months or so agao I reinstalled, iis there a new patch since then?

Regards,

Robin

I know you have explained this to death already Robin.. but could you refresh my memory on this..

This happens to all the files you try.. or lots.. not just a selected one or two?
File Error (5) is usually an availablity error that you get.. so im sorta confused can you post the exact error message word for word here?
Also, are you getting this error only on WinMX Peer Network or do you use OpenNap networks as well?
How long is your Incoming Folder path name?
Have you tried changing the location of your Incoming folder?

Hi,

Things are a bit difficult as I don't have much sight but basically the error message says  something like File Erroor > (5) Access to WinMX Stuff Denied.

I have the incoming folder on my external hard drive and this message comes up after I have made a few selections in soemones sharing  folder.

HTH

Regards,

Robin
Then after a few mpre selections WinMX willl crash completely.

Hi Robin,
i just wondered if you use Avast AntiVirus? because they had an update that did not like WinMX, the problem was solved by adding WinMX to the ignore or exclusion list, also check that your firewall isn't blocking WinMX, i run Avast AntiVirus & it works in conjunction with a few firewalls like Zone Alarm Pro, it has a built in web scanner that works with Zone Alarm.
just an idea that's all.

Robin can you move your incoming folder to your normal Built in drive for a few days and see ift his will help

You just click on settings button, then from there the list on the left look for File Transfers, click this once to highlight it and on the right at the very top you should see a button that says Change beside the Directory Path.

Change this to your normal drive for a few days just to test.  WinMX is known to be picky about using external drives.

Just to let you knwo although it may be a bit early, but I have moved my Incoming floder to the C drive and have made several choices of MP3 files and no File Error message has come up yet.
