Hi, I wanna use WinMX in my new purchased PC, and so I downloaded a new application of winMX
from here:

Is this an official WinMX web site?

That is the best place you can get WinMX patched.. Its not the Official WinMX website because the official owner of WinMX left in Sept 2005, after a threat of lawsuit from the RIAA.  After receiving that letter he voluntarily closed the caches everyone used to connect to each other.  In the three days following that episode many users of the network worked all hours until on Sept 23rd (three days later) a user cache was made that allowed us to connect to WinMX by the man that runs the web site now at  https://www.winmxgroup.com/  Most folks already are aware of this but we forget sometimes new users just coming to the network are unaware of how its evolved in the last two years..

The man is KM one of this sites Co-Founders and the owner of WinMX Group.  Its the best place to get WinMX and its innovative patch that blocks flooders and keeps this network running smoothly.

Run it through all the antiviurs and spyware and adware utilities you have and convince yourself
The official winmx site closed on 21 september 2005. The winmx group site gives you a patch made by km, so that you can connect to the caches that he has set up so that we all can still have a great P2P alive :8

Hi, my WinMX is connected now, coz I see the green light is on; but why nothing is returned even if I searched for a MP3 which file name contains the word 'happy'.

I have downloaded the winMX application from this link:

Do I have to download any patch for this version?

this could be because your firewall/router isnt configured right..

are you trying to connect on secondary or primary?
 (You can see this by going to the networks page on winmx, under nickname it says connection type)

The patch is already included.
Remove the winmx rules from sygate and trun off the Xp firewall.
Say yes to the warning that comes up next time you start winmx

Beisdes video and audio, can I see my any other type of files I want, such as MPG or DivX?

.Mpg is a default file type on MX clicking the Video button should yeild those results.. Dvix files are usually labled such.. and as for any other file types using the 'Any File/Any Bitrate' will yeild you many other files types you didnt know there was even... lol

I have added some other file types like .flv and .swf, but they don't appear in the list for me to choose from.

when searching there are 4 buttons to select for the file type, the first 3 are some "quick access" ones, they can be set to the file types you use the most in settings (they default to Audio, Video, Pictures) and the fourth button to actually select from the complete list of search types

But I just can't see .swf and .flv in the list.
Do I have to select 'any file/any bitrate instead?

winmx only has specific search types for common files, for example there's no point winmx adding search codes to the protocol to deal with every single obscure file type possible, so it only has search types for common things

the any file/any bitrate option is there for the purposes where you want to search for other file types

however bare in mind that file types that aren't actually listed in winmx are generally not going to be shared by many, so you'll often not get many (any?) search results for them
