I'm connecting thru a wifi network at a library, and the wifi router is such that I can't do UDP or TCP ports.  And I can't do anything about the wifi router configuration.  But some users can download from me, but some others always time out.   And I can download from some users, but not others.  Possibly the same reason, or maybe I'm being bounced because the queues are too long or such.   What WinMX settings should I check?  I'm running Win 2000 SP4 here with WinMX.  And no Leechhammer or such aux programs.

Is there an automated port hunting program that would step thru all possible port addresses to see if any do work (and keep a log of any good port addresses)?

if you are set to passive mode (winmx set to not able to accept connections) then it should work for most, however you will be unable to exchange files with other users who are also set that way, there is not much you can do about that

as for finding ports you can use - somehow i doubt they would have gone and forwarded random ports to random places for no apparent reason, much more likely that they would have just left it with all inbound connections blocked

as long as in settings winmx is set to unable to accept TCP Connections, that is all you can do
