No Uploads
« on: April 05, 2007, 11:05:50 pm »
Just had fiber installed on a free test service.

Downloads seem to be fine but I notice not one upload siince. All are timing out. Now getting nasty messages about not sharing.

Is there a setting I need to change in MX?

What is this type of connection called?

Thanks

Hi Lone Wolf,

The actual connection type marked in WinMX has little to do with any configuration changes that might need to be made.

First of all I will assume you either have a modem with NAT or a router on this new service and that has to be configured, for WinMX.  You may also find you have to allow WinMX in any new protection programs you may have installed recently with this new service (if any), and make sure your XP firewall is configured or off if your on XP.

Here is a general guide to router help and I suggest you start here..

If you have any questions still feel free to post them.. if you do maybe if you share your Modem, router, firewall and Operating System,  information it would be helpful as well.

My problem is when I updated to.3.54 Beta I have had major trouble with uploading to anyone. Also a good deal of my downloads will time out before I can get anything

hi ecrocker,

Without knowing more about your set up, I'll just give you some general things to check or do.

One is to make sure that the new upgrade you have installed is from www.winmxgroup.com  If your not sure where you got the installer or it doesnt say Patch Operational in the update bar, its worth redownloading and installing from that protected patched version.

Second make sure your firewalls are actually allowing MX to connect ok.  Often when you upgrade from an older version some firewalls, including the XP ones see this as a program hijack and block it even though previously you've allowed it.  Remove WinMX from any firewall rules you have allowing it, restart the program, and allow it again when the firewall asks.  Or manually go in and add it after restart.

If you had ever set up a router or DSL modem before with certain port numbers, be sure those are set in the New WinMX.  For example if you used port 1720 and 2343 in the past, the new WinMX may have them set back to defaults in Settings > Incoming TCP 6699 and In/Out UDP set to 6257.  Just make sure all ports match in router, modem, firewall and WinMX.

I am running a Toshiba Laptop with the Intel Centrinio duo processor (sp) Win XP Media Edition. Patch is operational

Yes i did what was said above

All  Incoming TCP 6699 and In/Out UDP set to 6257. are set to that

Did you remove WinMX from the firewalls in use and re add them?

If you have and your still having problems then do you have a router or dsl Modem that may need configured?
