Hi everyone
I've downloaded and set up winmx but am having problems sharing my files with others.
I'm trying to set up my ports to the same as my other file sharing program ez serve (mirc) but cannot figure out what ports # need to be entered and where.

I presently have a router but when I set up ez serve I ddn't have to change any settings on the router or on the program.

I would like to have the same for winmx also.

If someone who could help walk me through on what settings go where it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

WinMX will work without need for setting up ports on your router/firewall, it tells you how to when you install winmx..

Firstly, Open your winmx
Go to settings
Click on outgoing TCP connections
tick the box that says Unable to accept incomming TCP connections,
then click on In/Out UDP packets
Again, tick the box that says unable to send or recive UDP packets
Click close, exit then restart your winmx, also check that on the startup screen
under where it says network identity it says connection type,
make sure "Make a secondary connection to the network" is selected,
then attepmt to download a file

I am 99% cirtain this will work, if not come back and we'll try to help in more debth

arg... correction,

follow these steps

Firstly, Open your winmx

Hi Dabunny,
when you say winmx works on the same ports as another program, they shouldn't, when using a router, the ports set foe one program can not be used with another program, this will cause connection issues, programs can not share ports.

hence why i told them how to get winmx not to listen on ports...

Personally I prefer using that Unable option as a last resort or for folks that cant or wont set ports.. so its best to attempt to get the correct configurations set up..
