sharing files
« on: March 13, 2007, 03:39:15 pm »
Hi i share many files that have been copied onto my computerare from data discs i have previously made ,however files that i have copied from vcd's( ie avseq) are .dat files now i have added these to my folder that contains my music and altered the settings on mx to accomodate these .dat files but there are 2 questions.
1)in my folder that i share these . dat files they  show with a total file size but the other info like bytes/ duration/bitrate/compression/resolution/freq  are not shown  ,am i actually sharing them or havent they hashed correctly.

2)is it possible to alter the video settings to add .dat files to the asf agi mpgand mpeg types to enable me to search for these file types.I have tried but cannot seem to add them.
Hope all this makes sense . :?

1.>If you got the files from video cd's then rename the file and convert it into .mpeg (simply change the .dat to .mpeg)
2.>Yes, to add .dat files, you'd need to do that.

I'd recommend the renaming into mpeg or avi, as most people won't search for .dat for movies, more often, it's .avi or .mpeg

Always rip songs into .mp3 using cdex and not .mwa using windows media player, an Wmp encodes information about your computer, so that the file can be traced back to you....

Cheers :P
