Author Topic: Help with ignored person still getting access to files? (Read 1141 times)

Hi everyone need a bit of help ,I run winmx monitor to help with downloads from people who help me .

The problem is I have this guy in the ignored list as he starts on monitor then as soon as he is finished he cuts your download off. I thought having him on the ignored list would stop him but it don`t and if I run monitor he gets access and the others all loose out.

I have seen talk about a hack that is used for access if this is the case how do I stop it?

if the user has changed his username (the last few digits for example) then the ignore no longer applies

mxmonitor has an option to disconnect the other user if they dsconnect you during a trade... but better still is to just not trade and share instead

Well, you can pt him on auto ignore and keep cancelling him whenever he goes to your files

He is and I do but when I check after coming home there he is and I don`t understand how he by passes the ignore
On the other point I do share. I have one channel on line constantly for people Queuing (It used to be two but I could not maintain the transfer rate) and at a high transfer rate 23.00kbs which only goes down if there is a trade but with all these clans, clubs whatever you want to call them. Who will not share unless you join their room ,you have no other option and considering the strength of broad band the 2.00 kbs transfer rates have you hanging for days for a half hour transfer.
I would much rather share all but the rooms and their "roomies" prevent this from happening and I don`t want to spend hours chatting on line or playing silly quiz games to satisfy some other persons ego

"All those clans, clubs, rooms etc." I sit in one of those and at the moment I am sharing something that nobody else has, and nobody in my room needs it. It is going to total strangers, and I don't cut them off if they are not in my room.

Off topic a little bit, but maybe try some rooms and you may find better ones thatn the ones you deal with.

As usual someone has to take the statement to the extreme.
No not everybody acts in the way I described in my statement but the majority do.
The first message you get in most queues "come join our room and get faster downloads" or " come to room ****** and be connected straight away".
I appreciate what is shared with me but I have other things to do rather than sit by the computer. That is the beauty of winmx it works away in the background with the minimum of fuss

Hi Tony,

I understand what you mean about the chat, you have to sorta think about it a bit though. You have to keep in mind tho, that after the shut down by frontcode many rooms lost memeber, hosts do a pretty good job most of the time in helping to hold the network together by providing something that takes alot of time and energy to do correctly. Not only are they providing files to folks but also taking on a protective role for many that do spend lots of time by the computer and need a happy safe experience..

That said in the defense of those hosts or roomies advertise.. let me also share with you this

Anyway about your problem Tony, with this user. He cant be blocked by Moni because as KM mentioned above hes changing his user name.. meaning even if the last 5 digits on his name change and he reconnects he can get past your moni again. That said..

I believe (althought i havent tried this myself) that with MXMoni you can ignore by user name string. This means if hes using the same user name that you could maybe add this user name to that area to auto ignore him, its meant to be used to ignore users with names like cuss words or bad things.. the word leech.. what ever.. have a look here for more info.

Thanks for the reply I take on board your comments and agree they have helped as I said before I have no objection to the rooms they don`t suit me and in a sharing comunity I don`t believe they help speed the download paramaters saying that not all rooms function in the same way and others can be very helpful.
As to the advice I have tried the string and so far it is working. Many thanks to all who have helped
