Author Topic: DLL patch reconnects every time hit search - pie patch is fine (Read 1586 times)

Reading the current points about PG2 how can i use the DLL patch when it reconnects everytime i hit search! I am 56k and i lose queue positions which are very valuable. It does reconnect almost straight away but queues are lost. get to 1 end up at 99

At the moment i am using pie patch 3.4 and PG2 and can search all i like. 99.9% of a connection i have no problems other than if mx tries connecting for longer times than normal (3 mins) disconnecting mx for 3 secs the reconnecting, rooms drop but d/ls and u/l stay.
If PG2 is bad how can i use the DLL patch given that i cant search without losing queues.
running xp pro all updates, mx 3.54b mx moni

I use orig host file and dont use PG2

Hi Scaryscooby,
chances are because the pie patch modifies your hosts file, it also has PGlite built in it, so it will still be in your pc even when you uninstall Winmx because its not in the WinMX folder, the pie has its own folder and the hosts file is in system32 in your windows,

this means the pie with built in PGlite will block the DLL because that is why they designed it.

the best option is :-
1st uninstall WinMX & any Pie installed and delete the pie & WinMX folders

2nd go to your hosts file and remove all other IP's that have the WinMX name as they are pie

the only IP you need in your hosts file is

3rd remove the allowed entries on your firewall

4th make a fresh install of WinMX Please Click Here

6th enjoy WinMX again

I haven't installed pie patch after the last time I reformatted the computer
So that's the exact contents of an untouched host file.

thx for the responses. when i installed dll patch OLEDLG.DLL winmxgroup patch i had the plain original un-modified host file and i wasnt running any PG whatsoever. everything worked fine until hiting search.
I asked in 1 of the rooms i go in and they said its a side effect of being a slow connection? (56k)

That can be the case yes.. 56k can not handle the search results it can happen too with the room listing..Although the OLEDLG.DLL should have the fixes needed for the room list disconnection problem for secondary users and it was actually fixed issue in WinMX 3.54 beta 4 which you have.

Make sure your set up correctly for a 56k user, here is a page i wrote being former 56ker myself... and see if this helps your situation. I cant think of any reason that it would be worse or only happen on WinMXGroup patch however. for most users its much better for these types of issues ..

Once you try things making sure your limits are set, and your settings are good,, and your using the proper adware and spyware options.. let me know how you get along

Just to be sure, you are using secondary connection right?
Does it come up with any search results before you get disconnected?
What happens if you search for something that doesn't return any results, does it stay connected or disconnect? (just search for "dgsdgfdgdfg" or something like that)

Thx for the tips, ill try it again with non real searches etc. I have mx setup pretty much like 56k guide thx for that info and run latest lavasoft adaware se pro and super anti spyware pro which are run regularly. now im getting "no route to host" on trying to connect to peeps on winmx files which i think are peeps with the winmxworld patch
