can't 'whois' myself in chat
« on: April 16, 2007, 03:26:40 am »
Hi all, used to be able to do this but now I can't: in the past I would check my proper configuration by going into a chat room and then doing a 'whois' of me, and then browse my share folder and then DL a file. For some reason I can no longer do that. I've troubleshot enough to know that it's an issue with my Linksys BEFW11S4 router. ( a direct connection of modem to computer allows me the 'whois' visibility of me in a chat room - now when going thru the router I eventually get "No Response From Remote Host" when I try my own 'whois'.)  The port forwarding for 6257 UDP and 6699 for TCP is properly setup and allows for in and outbound filesharing.  OK - the question is what am I doing wrong and what kind of router setting will give me the 'whois' visibility that I use to have.  Any and all help will be most appreciated. Thanks
PS - connecting as a primary.

If youchanged routers and then this occured, then it is alright.
Some routers do not allow the loopback, ie, connecting to yourself through the internet as in the case of downloading from yourself.
My router doesn't support it either.

Cheers :P
