Not sure where to begin - d'l issues...

Greetings,

Haven't been on WinMx in a few years - popped on today and ended up downloading 3.54 beta with the patch (screen says it's 'operational' so I'm assuming I've got everything I need).

I used to get lightening fast downloads - now I can't get much of anything to go (although I did get a wsx file to d'l so I could get a longer list of open naps).

I realize I open myself up to myriad problems with the open nap servers - but often that's the only way I get results on some of my more obscure searches.

I tweaked my bw settings and throttle the way it used to be...and someone was able to grab a few files from me as well, so it's not completely screwed - but I can't seem to download much of anything in the way of music...maybe it's the router, maybe it's the open nap server, maybe it's the listening port...just contemplating it all is making my head ache.

Anyone Know where I should start to make this work better?

More then likely if your uploads are working, even slow or irratically then the ports are ok as well.  Downloads not working are usually down to one of three things,

1. Fake files, which the patch you have is protecting you from those, so we can rule that out.
2. ISP throttling you or slowing your speeds to the point of them not connecting, its possible but we usually would see the same behavior with the uploads.
3. The settings for your Auto Enter Que being too low, I suspect this maybe one of your troubles.  Open WinMX Settings > Search > On the right you will see 'Default Downloading Parameters'.. under this is your Auto Enter Que settings labled AEQ - remember previous or may say AEQ - 10  .. click this and change it to 50 - 100.  Then try a search again and see if you can get into users que better.
