Utatane help - saving search results
« on: August 25, 2007, 02:11:50 am »
I love Utatane's save search results feature that creates a .csv file which you can view in Excel

Unfortunately, it seems unable to save results greater than 5000. I click the save button and nothing happens.

Does anyone know of other OpenNap clients that can save search results?

I'm using 1.04.3

I just noticed that I can save a list of 7000 results, but I can't save a list of 9500 results which is my target.

well, first off.. version 104.3 has bugs in it that create problems uploading after a few hours uptime. I highly suggest you use version 0.253 instead. I've used it for 3 years non stop, and have saved lists larger thatn 30,000 files.
there is also a way to do it with TekNap, which is a command-line client.

I tried using version 0.253 english and japanese clients, but I get the same problem.

I bring up the list of 9500 files of a certain user, but when I click the save button, the mouse cursor momentarily changes into an hourglass and nothing else happens.

I'll try to use TekNap to save the list.

I think I've realized the problem. The username I'm trying to save a filelist from has a \ character.

I'm sorry, I meant to say the username has the / character.

I'm sorry, I meant to say the username has the / character.

I've never seen a nap server yet where a slash in a nic is valid to login.. only letters and numbers work, and a couple symbols. if the nick contains a slash, the server should reject it and return the message "invalid user name"
but if you found a trick that works, glad to hear it :)

I'm on a japanese server that allows kana and kanji in your username.. and apparently the / character (which I found odd as well).

I tried to use TekNap but unfortunately I couldn't type in japanese within the program to join a channel or browse a user's files.

I hadn't thought of that, lol  as the japanese charachterset in facenap and slavadev server variations is beyond that of the conventional servers. the only other app I know of that will save share lists is teknap, and its Rumored that Lopster will do it as well, but like teknap, they are both native to unix ported to win32, so the charachterset will always be sort of "limited".
best of luck, happy 'tane-ing :)
