Seems The World Is just Going Nuts thees days. Espeacially in Vietnam.

ive heard of fiber seeking backhoes but fiber seeking fishermen is a new one on me

Ummm if they haven't been shown the difference, how can they tell between them?
They usually gather the copper to be sold as scrap for a pittance.

well considering undersea cables are covered in several layers of armour, i would imagine it could be difficult to tell without raising the cable, pulling off the seaweed, and cutting it open

however once the cable has been cut it would be easy to tell the difference before you pulled up several miles of it...
