New Apple Browser Released

A big milestone for Apple is the release of this new browser designed to operate on windows as well as the usual Apple platforms.

Apple has launched a version of its web browser Safari for Windows, competing head to head with Microsoft's Explorer and Mozilla's Firefox.
Chief executive Steve Jobs said Apple "dream big" and wanted to expand the 4.9% market share Safari enjoys.

Mr Jobs was speaking at a conference of developers for Apple products in San Francisco, California.

He said Safari was "the fastest browser on Windows", saying it was twice as fast as Internet Explorer.

Along with this release it was mentioned by Apple that they would after all allow third party developers to build add on web add on features for the iPhone product, something they had previously not been in favour of.

while i dont think it will -ever- be able to outdo firefox, at least the webdevs can test safari without buying a mac (tho IIRC it uses gecko too)...

Bug hunters have claimed numerous flaws in Apple's Safari web browser just hours after its release for Windows.

Less than a full day after Safari version 3 beta was released for Windows and Mac, researcher Thor Larholm revealed a "fully functional command execution vulnerability, triggered without user interaction simply by visiting a website."

Just Remeber this browser is still in beta production and is expected to have bugs.

Apple Inc. said Thursday that users have downloaded more than 1 million copies of the Windows version of its Safari Internet browser in the first 48 hours it was available.

The computer and consumer electronics company launched the Web browser Monday, setting off another layer of competition with its archrival, Microsoft Corp.

Now thats impressive 1 million downloads but here is a update on the bugs found in it .

Just days after Apple released the beta for its Internet browser Safari for Windows, the company has been forced to release a security update to fix issues and bugs in the software.

Version 3.0.1 for Windows is available via Software Update for windows as well as Apple's website.

hope there isn't many more of these update to come. but the again the bugs weren't only found in the windows version, it was also found in the Mac OS X version too.
