If you mean the CD is damamged by scratches ect, i know there are some shops that can repair the CD to its former state (amazingly like new..)  or you can buy some gadgets that will repair the CD

as for software, i dont know, ive neva needed to rip/burn many CD's cept the odd music disk..

hopes this helps.

Worst to worst, you can play the disk and use audacity to record the songs as they are played
It will record the sounds as they come into the pc, works great for my cassettes

Cheers :P

reef; isobuster wouldnt work but was a good idea

samseesam; i havent done an 'analog rip' in years... thx for the idea ;) ... now i just need to find a cd player/cdrom drive that can play the cd the best.... IIRC the old 2x panasonic drives (the ones that hooked to the soundblaster cards) worked the best at playing damaged (even cracked) discs...

I know this is useless for your current problem but as it looked such a good tool I thought I had better post it somewhere  :)

http://www.geocities.com/marsoupilamis/DocEnglish.htm

Its another program that does an ISO rip of scratched or damaged disks but audio is not included unfortunately.

This program is free but I,m not sure if its of use  :?

http://www.roadkil.net/unstopcp.html

I found this shareware title on the search also

http://www.jufsoft.com/badcopy/

The old standby is to polish the disks with something like silver/brass metal polish, but of course nothings guaranteed.

SamSeeSam,
I notice that you say audacity helps with your cassettes....Are you saying that it burns you music from the cassette to a cd? That's what I am looking for because i have many cds that I want to have converted to disk. and...what exactly is "audacity"?

Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds check it out using the link below
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

for converting cassettes take a look at the links below they should help

Let me make audacity clear.
On the sounds card there are three female pins
One green (for speakers)
One blue (for line in)
One pink (for microphones)

Audacity can record the sounds that com in via the line in and the microphone jacks.
What I did was connect the output of the cassete player to the line in jack and used audacity to record the sounds (music from cassette) on to the computer and saved them as mp3 files 9you can also sae them as .wav files)

I then burned these files using nero on a dvd..

Hope I made myself clear...

Check out hell's first link (below the audacity.sourcefore one) That was what I basically did.

Cheers :P
