WinMX disconnects my network
« on: June 14, 2007, 02:12:24 am »
I open up WinMX, start connecting to my servers my network totally disconnects.

My husband has is own PC and it will disconnect his network as well.
I have to power cycle the cable modem and router just to get back online.

Just to give you more info.....
We have Comcast cable modem
Netgear wireless G router
My husband's PC is running WinXP
My laptop is running Vista.

I have both TCP and UDP ports forwarded in both my router and Vista firewall

So can someone explain what is happening and what I can do about it.

Thanks for your help,
Debbie

i would start by checking the router configuration carefully, since it seems the component affected, try with the forwarding rules there disabled, if it stops locking up you've identified where the error is & can then address looking for how they're misconstructed. if it makes no difference you know to look elsewhere.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed.

k, I will do that

Strange thing though
It will disconnect the first time but if I close and reopen the problem it will not disconnect after that.
