In a rather silly move to get publicity and cash we have seen the French SPPF ( a record label organisation ) launch a suit on a range of P2P networks.
http://p2pnet.net/story/12488"In a ridiculous and grotesque judicial move, made possible by the DADVSI law passed by the UMP government and, above all, by the Vivendi amendment supported by Nicolas Sarkozy (right), the SPPF, which represents independent labels in France, is suing three P2P software vendors."
The three networks being targetted are a mix bag, Azureus Morpheus, Shareaza , it seems to be an attempt to confuse folks by placing open source projects along with a well known client that lost a case to to RIAA, I,m sure this has been done on purpose and I,m wondering how this selective targetting is going to seem to any jury why other networks and clients where not also listed in the suit,
Are we looking at another david and goliath battle, with one side fielding a top legal team and pop stars for the media and the other side fielding a few folks who happen to like helping their fellow humans share things, this then is the real battle
