Waiting for Incoming Connection...and waiting...and waiting...

I've applied the patch for a secondary connection (thank you for the quick fix, guys!) so now I'm getting connected, but when I go to download (and I've also seen it with someone trying to upload from me) it gets stuck on "Waiting for incoming connection."  And it eventually hangs up and times out. 

Any thoughts?

Hi Squish,

The patch method shouldnt effect download or upload speeds so Im not for sure what to make of that... be sure that your Firewall is allowing MX and it maybe worth a shot to remove it from allowed rules and restart.. let it ask again to be sure.

If all are timing out then its def a problem with a firewall or router.. check those and post back

I have the same problem and no firewall is active and the only router I know of is up in the work shop. No one has been able to upload from me all have timed out and I have only succeded to down load only a couple.
Been with WinMx for years.

Do you have a firewall in your router? Also do you know if the ports are forwarded correctly in the router?

Will have to look at the setting more and try to understand them. WinMx has always worked well untill it went off line.

Termite do you know if you have ever accessed the routers Online web configuration pages and added ports in there. 

If yes I would think maybe WinMX has accidently had the ports change in settings.

If you cant remember that anyone ever did you have two choices here.  Either get the model and name and go into that and do it.  or ..Set WinMX > Settings > Incoming TCP to Unable to listen on...
Then do the same with In/Out UDP .. Unable to send or reveive ...
Then restart WinMX in secondary mode.

Yep changed WinMx settings unable to etc and all seems to be back to normal.
Going to spend more time in this site lots of interesting stuff and I know I,ll have a lot more Q's ?.

Hi quick question, if winmx is not coming back is their anything to take its place, do you have recommendation of a nother program to use. Lime wire, Bare share ?        I would have been glad to pay for the admin to take care of this site. do you think they might reconsider putting site back on.  Any  help would be greatly appreciated

Hi, guys!  Sorry I posted and disappeared. {blush}  Had a family kerfuffle over the weekend.

Anyway, I am now able to download.  At least, I've gotten three files to download.   I see there's a new perm fix, though, so I'll go download that and get it set up. 

I must admit...I'm pretty illiterate when it comes to that firewall stuff.  Thank you for the link though...hopefully I can make hide or hair of it.
