Can connect but cannot search.

Hi guys

New here so excuse any noobness:)

I have installed winmx and have got it going to the stage where the green light is on and it is telling me it is ready.

I have tried to search for some songs but nothing comes up.

Are there any words of wisdom I can use to get the search going.

I am using vista ultimate 32 if this makes any difference.

Any help appreciated:)

Please give some more info like:

are you behind a router (it needs port forwarding) see portforward.com

is winmx allowed to go through your firewall yet? (check the tutorials section.. top page here)

are you on a secondary or a primary connection? (check this behind the network button ..left top)..and if you are on primary have you tried switching to secondary?

and one more thing are you using the special vista patch? there is a special vista section lower on this forum?

All fine now I changed the connection from primary which did give me a green light to go but no searches coming up.

To secondary which is slower but works.

I don't know wh as all the other items mentioned in your answer were all done.

hi again

i 'm sure there must be something blocking if all searches fail midgo, i'ld try double checking  all permission in your router and try removing the permission in the firewall on the puter (when winmx is off)then start up winmx and see if the firewall asks permission

what confuses me still is.. do you get the green light on both connection types? or just on secondairy

and btw have you tried the new temporary patch?

Not sure if this is still needed since i ve never patched mine (my mx  was  kept online and working fine all the time)

best to only use it when you donot get the green light i guess
