Hi, Im tryin to download WinMx after my other p2p software became so inundated with viruses, i just didnt want it anymore, Im not quite sure how to navigate this site, I downloaded the patch on the frot page of this site, but when i tried to set up WinMx, the connection test didnt work... I disabled my firewalls, but no joy, and when i manually configured it, it still didnt work, and wouldnt connect..

If anyone can help, maybe i have to download winmx before i download the patch?? im not entirely sure.... if anyone can give me a hand, i would appreciate it.

Im running windows ME, and mozilla firefox, with Spy Sweeper and AVG antivirus, if thats any help....

the solution (currently) for windows ME is to run this patch first
http://winmxworld.com/archive/KingMacro/WinMX%20Connection%20Fix/Install-3.0-3.54b4.exe
it won't connect (don't expect it to) but it resolves the issue
then the one you have
which should then work perfectly

Erm, i ran the patch, but it didn't work, when i try to set up WinMX, the connection test doesn't work, and the manual configuration is all gibberish to me, but i got to the main screen, and it just keeps saying, finding network connections, and a flashing yellow light.. ill try to run the patch again..

and no joy again... its stuck on finding network connections...

I think you didn't quite get what Bearded Blunder told you, Tysonne.

The installer from the front page has a fault that won't setup right with windows ME.
You need to do the setup twice.

First with the old installer from the link Bearded Blunder posted.
It will not connect with that but will put the right settings for windows ME.

Second you need to run the installer from the front page which will then load the newer patch that will actually connect you.
If the connection test fails just do it manually, but make sure you do NOT enable proxy settings.

If you follow that procedure winmx should connect - good luck!

Ah.... Boy do I feel foolish... but its working now... thank you very much for that... right, before i begin using this, are there any other update/ patches/useful stuff that'll help me? im a bit of a WinMX weed, and havent exactly been following progress...?

Just browse our Tutorials for many usefull hints, add-ons, settings etc.
There are some basic guides for you to start with to get the settings right but also a lot of useful tips for all kinds of situations.

(above the channel list), then hit join.
