For those that would like to see the WPN protocol in action there exists a tool for viewing secondary and primary exchanges.

http://2sen.dip.jp/arcs/MXSniffer5.lzh

To use this tool simply place in the same folder as WinMX and start MX up as normal, you will see a fresh window that usually hides underneath WinMX,  this window will remain until you close winmx.

As you will notice the program was primarily made for Japanese use but its easy to make sense of the display as its virtually language free.

UPDATE: If you want to see the WPN protocol in action, but you are using KM's ws2_32.dll patch. One option is to temporarily switch to the PIE patch. You have to replace KM's ws2_32.dll with the ws2_32.dll from 2sen in order to use the sniffer as well as the host file.

I would suggest setting up a new folder and doing that if they wish as the sniffer works better on the 3.31 winmx it was designed for and can crash if you use a later version, cheers for the reminder though.

You can get 3.31 winmx from here

httpss://archive.winmxworld.com/WinMX/WinMx%20Releases/winmx331.exe

I have a host file with an installer that will restore the host file afterwards back to normal once you have done tinkering and seen what the WPN has to show you  :D

https://www.winmxworld.com/files/hosts_file_xp-2k.exe

https://www.winmxworld.com/files/hosts_file_98me.exe

Please bear in mind that the only way to turn the sniffer off is to kill winmx so try not to start a mega download
