WinMX 3.54 beta 4 and Windows Vista Problems

Hi,
 I keep having this problem with WinMX refreshing, or searching for network connections,
45 seconds after it connects. Is there a fix for this problem?
 I'm running Windows Vista Beta, and WinMX 3.54 beta.
  Any help would be great! Thanks.

vista has many problems with many programs

some people are able to run winmx fine with it, others have a few issues like you report... but most say to get rid of that rubbish and use an OS that works and lets you tell it what to do instead of the other way around

I tried SamSeeSams Idea, and it went for a whole 2 min. before it refreshed itself
 and started looking for network connections! I agree with Chocolate God...
 I should go back to XP! Vista has Internet Explorer 7+
  I seen that people were having trouble with WinMX 3.54 and that version of Explorer,
 but I didn't know if there was a fix or not. If there is, and someone knows, please let me know.

that was an issue with an old patch version crashing with IE7

...and XP has IE7 now since they decided to put it on auto update, which is why there are a few posts about it recently where people have been ignoring the big red flashing text telling them to update for months and now suddenly IE7 installed itself and it started crashing

fix: format c: install decent operating system .. or at least a different windows version.. anything from win 95 (with appropriate updates) to xp sp2 should run winmx fine

 I Found the Fix!
 I downloaded WinMX 3.54 Beta, but ran the Pie Patch

 3.0 patch at winmxgroup.com and the one from there?

the difference is a shit load of fake files, and donating your computer for use hosting the illegal attacks vladd is launching against the network, basically breaking the law yourself to help him in his goal of shutting down winmx - and getting a load of fake search results stopping you downloading thingas while you're at it

btw the vista issues are winmx issues nothing to do with the patch, if you found it working then it is likely either something else you did or just random luck (if it is fine 10% of the time and just happens to work the once then...)

i'll also edited your post to disable the link to the spyware you installed, you really should remove it, especially if you ever plan on using your computer for anything sensitive (like banking, or private emails, or anything at all... as that contains a back door to gain access to any information you enter online)

 I had no idea about vladd. I searched the net untill I found a patch that worked. I ran SpyCheck, and Defender to make sure there's no spyware,
 and deleted the patch, and WinMX. Rebooted and reinstalled WinMX from

 Now I'm back to where WinMX connects to the network for 1 to 2 min. then
 serches for a network connection. It keeps doing this over and over, so downloads and uploads are impossible. I'm not looking to piss anybody off, just a way to get back to the filesharing network.

Can you open your host file and post it here please, its likely the pieware is stuck in place causing this, the problem you describe has only ever been noticed on that patch to my knowledge.

Im on Vista Ultimate and have Winmx v3.54 beta 4
Since getting Vista yesterday ive sorted out everything apart from winmx. It constantly searched for connections, connects and then disconects. The longest it stays is 2 minutes or so. I dont know what to do.
