It seems its time for the real criminals to be taken to task for illegal internet attacks.

Quote
According to the official blog, administrators of the popular BitTorrent website "now have proof [... that] the big record and movie labels are paying professional hackers, saboteurs and ddosers to destroy our trackers."

"While browsing through the email we identified the companies that are also active in Sweden and we have tonight reported these incidents to the police.” Brokep explained, “The charges are infrastructural sabotage, denial of service attacks, hacking and spamming, all of these on a commercial level."

ThePirateBay listed the companies they are currently targeting in their charges:

Twentieth Century Fox, Sweden AB
Emi Music Sweden AB
Universal Music Group Sweden AB
Universal Pictures Nordic AB
Paramount Home Entertainment (Sweden) AB
Atari Nordic AB
Activision Nordic Filial Till Activision (UK) Ltd
Ubisoft Sweden AB
Sony Bmg Music Entertainment (Sweden) AB
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Nordic AB

It is unclear whether these charges will, in fact, lead to a full-out lawsuit against the major companies, but this announcement at least indicates that there is a definite effort to push ahead.

Lets hope the police act swiftly to secure any evidence of criminal conspiracy and raid the record companies as fast as they did the pirate bay, failure to secure such evidence would point to police corruption and bribery allegtions being made publicly.

No doubt we will see the Cartels try to lie their way out of this one, for years they have been sponsoring attacks on P2P networks and paying off politicians and now they have been caught with a smoking gun provided by MediaDenfender, let justice be done eh folks  :D

I wonder if the cartel is responsible for the Red Alert that Pirate Bay has on the McAfee Site Advisor program? I never go to that site because of this warning.

That could very well be true Trestor, the fact is The Pirate bay continue to fight for p2p'er everywhere and a good fight it is, you really should have a read through some of the emails and correspondence they get and send.. very good stuff...

Its definatly not a dangerous site anymore than any torrent site is as far as virus's are concerned and you should always scan files you get from any source, but the site itself if very safe I assure you...  If your not a MediaDefender person...LOL

Just spotted this bit of older news that shed a little more light on the subject

We asked Brokep, one of The Pirate Bay founders to give us some more background information on this counterattack that will, once again, embarrass the entertainment industry.

Lets see how long the Swedish police take to do anything about this matter, although this may be a conflict of interest for them as they have the old pirate bay servers still from their abortive raid, even though no charges have ever been brought, sounds like corruption somewhere to me.

I just saw this it may be old to all of you but here it is.

Initially MediaDefender, an anti-piracy organization that has been known to run fake BitTorrent trackers, had plans to use MiiVi.com for their video download site, but those plans were canceled .

It’s great to see that the name “Miivi” is changing into something positive now. The BitTorrent community can use another stable public tracker, especially now TorrentBox and PodTropolis have restricted access to its trackers to block peers in the US.

MiiVi.org describes itself as a tribute to the fall of MediaDefender and was registered by the people behind MegaNova. The Pirate Bay runs tracker.miivi.org which is a public BitTorrent tracker and EZTV uses tv.mivii.org for their TV-show releases.

Here is the link for those that care to read it.                http://torrentfreak.com/heroes-and-prison-break-torrents-tracked-by-miivi-070928/

Hmm, I looked at that myself thinking they had found a new weapon and was happily relieved to find it was a pirate bay backed scheme to seize back some ground from these terrorist companies.
