ok Soul Im not sure why your Avast is having such fits so here is my plan 'b'...
I want you to get this file from the archive and install it, its WinMX 3.53 unpatched in installer and it should install fine.
httpss://archive.winmxworld.com/WinMX/WinMx%20Releases/winmx353.exeNow this wont connect, its an upatched version. You may also prefer to have WinMX 3.54 beta 4 (which was never officially released in an installer) If you want that version instead here is how we do that:
Make sure WinMX is off.
Get this file and save it to the Computer.
httpss://archive.winmxworld.com/WinMX/Beta/3.54%20betas/winmx354beta4.zipUnzip it to your newly created C:\Program Files\WinMX folder and when it asks 'Would you like to overwrite the file that is already there' say Yes.
That all done means you now have an unpatched WinMX in your Program files folder. Now to patch it and make it connect do this
Get this file which is the Patch by itself:
https://patch.winmxconex.com/oledlg.dllSave this file to the folder in Program Files with the winmx.exe file and other mx related files. Then restart WinMX and let me know how this went..
If you still have problems with Avast post me that info and we'll get this sorted one way or another if we have to shut the av down while you install and reboot to turn it back on...
