hi everyone,i had used winmx in past,till computer crashed,bought new tower and havent been able to connect since.. anywho, i'm on my laptop with vista,shut down all my firewalls and still says connecting but doesnt connect,please help,i have embarq as provider (dsl) 2wire wireless router 2700hg-s i've searched forum for my problem and did try everything i think but still no connection......

Hi Gio

I would turn back on firewalls and allow winmx through them. As windows firewall is still running in the back ground just make sure you have allowed them and the ports.

shut down windows firewall and embarqs i reconfigured to lallow winmx still no connection,just says connecting never connects 2ndary or primary,do you think its in my router????

what make and model number is your router/modem gio? post here and a link can be posted for forwarding your ports for winmx

my router is a 2wire model number 2700hg-s wireless router, i hope this helps thanks

i did it,still will not connect,forwarded the ports to my laptop nothin,what else can i try,getting frustrated,my dsl provider is embarq(sprint).

Since its not really clear what patch your using and when u downloaded it....try downloading
the patch from Here
and see if this allows you to connect.... at least this way you can rule out whether or not you have the latest updated patch version.

once downloaded... make sure winmx is closed and run the patch installer and retry winmx

if it still doesnt connect at least we know its something other than an old patch issue.

this morning i went on main computer not laptop and changed router info and shutdown firewalls and it worked with primary connection,still cant get my laptop to run winmx,it has vista also,but i'm happy to be up and running thanks for all the help i will still continue to try to get my laptop connected,i'll try that patch
