Earlier this year Optus launched Fusion, and yesterday it added two options to the list which feature download limits of 2GB or 20GB.However, it introduced the new condition whereby customers who exceed these limits would have to pay 15 cents for every megabyte.This will be capped at 2GB - a maximum excess usage charge of $300. Internet connections would slow down after this point.Two gigabytes is barely enough to download three movies from the internet.The only way customers can prevent from being charged the extra fee is by monitoring their own usage.A company spokeswoman guaranteed that Optus wouldn’t pressure existing customers onto the new plans.On why Optus decided to institute the charges, she said, “We are always looking to change our plans to better serve the needs of our customers”.
