Secondary on 98SE - blinking YELLOW light keeping me awake

Finally upgrade 98FE to SE on an old low resource system, reinstalled WinMX 3.53 for secondary connection and nada (except for the aforementioned yellow light.

Is there something special I have to do for 98SE?

I recall the last time I had connection problems with FE, I downloaded some IP files and put them in my HOST list and everything worked fine.  I can't seem to find a pointer to those files, anybody have them, or a pointer?

As a secondary, do I have to be concerned with an inbound firewall, or router settings?  Not hosting anything, so nobody has to connect or get to me, right?

To cure the keeping you awake problem ......easy turn your screen off because when you got the green light its a lot more likely to keep you glued to the screen and loosing sleep lol

It's not easy getting GREEN, but at long last,  VOILA,  the GREEN light is on!!

Thanks for that pointer to the eensy weensy pre-install clearing routine.  That, PLUS the post that directed one person to the port forwarding routine for 2-Wire router/modems, did the trick.  One or both of them worked.  Not going to try to figure out which one.

I would suggest that AT&T DSL subscribers take note of the port forwarding routine.
