As usual folks we see the same guilty companies wheeling out the same excuses each time they get caught defrauding the consumer.
http://www.informationweek.com/news/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=205917419As the battle over net neutrality heats up again, big-pipe providers -- in particular cable giant Comcast -- are fighting a rearguard action against peer-to-peer file-sharing applications, even while making plans for their own versions of on-demand downloads of video and other forms of content.
Last week, the FCC said it would seek public comment on whether its net-neutrality guidelines are robust enough to prevent Internet network operators like Comcast from discriminating against BitTorrent and other P2P applications. Since an October report by the Associated Press demonstrated that the cable giant has been blocking or slowing certain high-traffic applications, specifically BitTorrent downloads, a series of petitions and complaints from public-interest groups and from Vuze, a P2P video-sharing platform provider, have been filed with the FCC asking that Comcast be blocked from "traffic shaping" and be fined.
Whilst its been bit torrent users who have made the most complaints we all know that Comcast have been hitting filesharing in general in a take it or leave it fashion, it looks like the FCC may be ready to call their bluff and lighten their profits
