RIAA Mouthpeice Shy's Away From Govt Regulation OF ISP's

This is either an about turn or a trick of some sort  :?

The RIAA still wants to see a thousand filters bloom, of course, but it holds out hope for a "marketplace solution" to the issue.
Cary Sherman, the RIAA chief, made his comments today at a Washington, DC tech conference
The RIAA does not support this approach in the US, opting instead to back the tradeoffs of the DMCA. That law allows ISPs a "safe harbor" for the content passing through their networks so long as they respond to takedown notices and legal requests in a timely fashion.

But the group welcomes voluntary filtering of the kind promised by AT&T. This is sometimes said to be in the best interests of ISPs because it can help them control bandwidth. Verizon, which has bandwidth to burn, though, has showed no interest in becoming a copyright cop.
Tom Tauke, who heads Verizon's lobbying efforts, said at the same conference that his company had no interest in following AT&T down the yellow brick road to Filtertown

You can see why asking a government to impose regulation would be the second favourite idea folks its because they are less likely to yield to fake legal pressures and put in place safeguards against abuse by organisations like the RIAA that utilise illegal investigators and suport the use of "pretexting" methods such as ringing peoples homes and scaring young children with questions to try to entrap folks in filresharing suits, lets not mention the thousands of threatening letters they send to extort money from the impoverished, and the innocent purely for publicity, organisations like this are always scared of real regulation of their criminal activities, and make no mistake all of the activities listed have been used by these abusers, this would no doubt end swiftly once the internet had rules to safeguard privacy as well as anti piracy issues.

I assume you mean packet filtering. If so then I say by all means they should bring it on. If an ISP does this and they don't filter data propperly and something gets by then the RIAA still has no case simply by the fact that the ISP can say "hey we filter all content and if it got by then it was what you claim it is". As long as it would still be possable to share uncopyritghted material. Besides if the ISP filters everyone then it'll also filter the RIAA in their illegal measures to gain unlawfull info from the ISP's users which also protects an ISP's user in another way.
When you wake up each morning always try to remember tomorrow is never your option, it's God's. Love like you want to. Live like you aren't afraid. And ALWAYS try to remember that even if it seems personal it's never as important as something you may have forgotten to do today.

oops! a maybe perhaps copyrighted file somehow appeared on my computer == sue the isp for letting that horrific event to happen. I'll accept $100,000 as 'compensation'
