Author Topic: PPL can't download from me + strange winmx (Read 1900 times)

Suddenly winmx was gone from my system so when I tried to start the program it installed instead! Weird! Anyway I can Download but it seems like no one can Upload- "Timed out" or " waiting for incommimng .... "

Hi Garo .... providing more info will help get your problem resolved faster...

What O/S are you running?
What Firewall(s) (if any) do you have running?
Are you using a router/dsl modem? - Did you previously have to forward ports for WinMX ,before it mysteriously dissapeared?

XP
No Firewall
both router and dsl modem - benn running winmx for years with NP - Sorry I don't know if I had to forward ports or not.

Windows XP does have it's own firewall. Since you had to reinstall WinMX it might be a good idea to remove WinMX from the exceptions list in the firewall and restart WinMX and let it re-ask you for permission...Give it full access when asked.If your not sure where to find the Windows Firewall,go to Control Panel and click on "classic view" on the left hand side.... you should then see the firewall. (assuming you have SP2 or later)

Even with Windows Firewall turned off it can still block things silently without you knowing...If the above method doesn't help you,you might want to have a look at these tutorials below.

Yeh I usually don't have upload problems either and have everything configured. Firewall is configured with ports and router is configured for virtual server and PNP firewalll has configured it also. Just the other day it started the timeouts on uploads though????? Will try reinstalling as I have tried everthing else.

I have got uploaders having connection refused and I cannot work why, first of all they were timed out (still do at times) but now they are refused why, all this is driving me crazy.

Are you connecting as a secondary or a primary??
Also are you behind a router/modem, or how do you connect to the internet??

Hi I am on the setting unable to connect and on LAN/dsl. router is DSL-502T. Most of my uploaders have the connection refused?connection timed out, I have tried about everything I can think of now, with a lot of help from this site but I can't work it out.

you might try dropping into the help chatroom WinMXWorld.com Help_AD182F4EBABE the problem you describe is pretty much always firewall/ router related, but sorting out which & getting the config set to cure it can be a tedious process of elimination & following a list of simple instructions (often a fairly lengthy list) & it tends to be way better handled in live chat than with posting delays on a forum...
