A strange idea

This is going to be so wierd, but, if a group of people were able to rip apart WinMX, and make their own cache indexer and peer caches... I would like to do the same for a small community. I mean the maximum amount of people at one time would be about 15 people.

How do I do this?

Wouldnt hosting a private OpenNap server be a lot easier? You could register your selected 15 friends so only they could log on, plus not registering the server on gotnap, nobody would know it existed in the first place. Sounds way easier to me.

Can it run on NearlyFreeSpeech.net or is there some hosting service that offers it?

And no, its not friends, it s acommunity, and its not just one site. It might spread to others. I'm syaing the most amount of people I expect to be online at any given time is 15.

So... how easy would it be for ... the community is mostly (I am not, we just share interests).. Teenage chick who watch Avatar... At leat, most of them are chicks... Anyway, we need a way to effiecently share fanvids with each other, be able to search for some, and do it all without Viacom finding out. You hear what they did to YouTube?

nap is a server hosted usually wither from someones computer or from a server, i ran one for some time, if you havea group of friends you will probbaly find it very rewarding, also with nap it works with winmx too. Their is a nap guide in the tutorials section and i used to host with a nap server called slavanap http://www.slavanap.org/. Their is a forum thier and their are a few guides about nap in the nap section of this forum, its also a good place to ask any questions you may have.
