I downloaded the patch and got WinMX to work. I also added ports to my firewalll; so that, I can connect as a primary. I get connections to 3-5 other primaries. However, when I connect as primary: I get no responses for searches, none of my downloads pickup, people do get in my upload que, but they just "wait for incoming connection" and never upload.

When I connect as secondary, everything works. What do I need to do to get the primary connection working?

This sounds like a Port issue still..

Do you have a router or dsl modem ?
Are you using Norton 2005 antivirus?

Got primary working, had to forward port from my router; however, I loaded the new winmx beta with patch and it keeps crashing. How do I get the old version of winmx back? Or should I just wait for the bugs to be worked out?

Not only has KM fixed the issue with the crashes he has also created a *.dll that works with your 98/ME systems so that you can get the same great speeds connecting that the WinMX once had..

The fix for the crashing and the 98/ME users patch are all in the same installer located here:

https://www.winmxgroup.com/Install-1.9.exe

Just follow the instructions that go along with this installation as you go. and restart WinMX...

Keep in mind that this .DLL for 98/ME has no block list function and all primary users on those systems should be using Sherwood, found in our forum under Other Software..
