Help w/ 2wire modem/router
« on: August 15, 2008, 04:19:38 am »
Hello All,

I had to reformat my computer and reload winmx. I"m having a hard time configuring the router. It's a 2wire 2701 hg-b.
i've dl'd v3.54 beta 4. Followed the directions for this specific router at Portforward.com setting incoming tcp @ 25000 and in/out udp @ 25000 as well. allowed both of these apps through the firewall, but still no connection. just the dreaded blinking yellow light.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

JeffA65

Hi Jeffa

Download this patch from here:  https://patch.winmxconex.com/

Post back and let me know if that connects.

Hey! That got me connected! Thanks so much!

Now, the only issue is see is that the dl speeds are agonizingly slow. I'm talking like 0.5 k/s
I'm on a dsl connection and before I had to run the recovery disk i was regularly seeing speeds of 40 to 50 k/s
Any suggestions?

thanks again,

jeffa

Hi Jeffa65,

Do me a favor and set up two seperate ports for your WinMX.  Using the same port for both TCP and UDP can cause issues.  Set UDP to 26000 if you like but just make sure to change it in both WinMX, 2-wire, and any firewalls you have that allow ports set.

Let us know if this helps

thanks again,

jeff

Ok Jeffa65,

Because they work occasionally that tells us that the ports are actually already correct and working, so my suggestion would be to come by the help room at
WinMXWorld.com Help_AE182F4EBABE

And let us test there live, unfortunately this is beginning to sound like your ISP is also throttling your use of MX :S

If your not sure about how to get to the room just copy the full name, open Chat screen in WinMX, paste that into the filter bar and select the Join button on the right.
