Why Two Artists Who Wont Allow Itunes To Offer Their Work

Its not often artists speak out on why they dont want their work on itunes so lets see whats behind the "not available" label

The iTunes Store has built quite a substantial catalog of music since its inception, and most artists are (at the very least) tolerant of having their music appear on the service. Some are still not fans of the iTunes Store, though, and have either spoken out against it or refused to sell their music on it. Recently, MacUser pointed us to two such cases: Frank Zappa's widow Gail, who doesn't like the compression that iTunes Store tracks are subjected to, and AC/DC, who dislikes iTunes because it lets users buy individual tracks instead of full albums.

I cant say their reasoning is fantastic but we all know DRM and poor bitrate downloads are a hallmark of itunes hold over those who wish to purchase tracks legally, p2p downloaders of course encounter no such limits, ironic really when the labels could be dropping such restrictions and delivering something folks could  be paying for.

no DRM... with lossless encoding (pref FLAC but if its in another lossless format it can be converted without loss ;) )

or better yet... what the hell happened to the mini CD single?? (two songs -- the 'main' one and the 'B' side...) and sell them for a buck a peice.... they would be rolling in it even more than they are now... and id have a collection of cool minis (already have a collection of 45rpm vinyl singles... something i add to nearly every time i go to the 'junk' store)

dunno what AC/DCs reason for wanting to sell a whole album but there are albums that -have- to be listened to as an album..... well.... actually only one that i can think of.... pink floyds: the wall
