Continuing a file on OpenNap
« on: June 22, 2008, 05:09:16 pm »
Hi, I asked this question a few months ago on another part of the board but got no response so I thought I would try here.
Whenever I try to continue a file on OpenNap, my screen freezes and I have to hit esc. This happens if I click on a yellow filename or if I right click and hit Manually Download.
This never used to happen. I always have to delete the incomplete file and start over which is very frustrating.
Any help? Please?

Every file started on an OpenNap server. Files started on the WinMX server are fine. This started last year sometime and had never happened before that.
Just recently got a new computer and had to re-download the WinMX program and hoped that would fix it, but it's still the same.

Actually, I just tried to manually download from the WinMX server to try and continue an incomplete that was started on an OpenNap sever and I couldn't do that either. I used to do that all the time but it no longer works. Seems that Manual Download is not an option for me for some reason.

Was just messin around on opennap and it worked ok for me. What operating system are you running Balashi? The only thing i can think of is maybe a Vista problem?

This current computer is Vista, my previous one was XP. It's not the OS because I had the XP since 2003 and had no problem continuing files up until the end of last year.
Thanks for responding.

It might be a vista issue
can you check (if possible) on a machine that has xp on it??
Give winmx administrator rights and see if that helps...

Cheers :P

It was towards the end of last year that WinMX stopped connecting for me. I had been using the patch for at least a year before that with no problems. Redownloaded the program to try and reconnect and it worked but I've had the OpenNap problem ever since. This probably started last October or so. I was still on my XP OS at that time. I only got Vista last month. It's tough to explain. My screen freezes but the time-on clock still runs as well as up/download speeds. However, I can't click on anything. I have to hit Esc. to unfreeze the screen.
Just for the heck of it I tried to Manually Download a file I had not previously clicked on from the WinMX server and the same thing happened. There isn't some kind of Manual Download setting somewhere, is there?

Strangely enough, it has started happening again even when running WinMX as an administrator.  :(
