Getting pretty bad

Seems to me winmx is sinking fast. Been on for three days, not a download yet, just uploads. The queues are as long as they ever were, and by the time you work your way thru, it times out. Most have their messaging turned off, out of fear I presume, so no way of contact. Very frustrating.

Did you replace the old 'hosts' file with the new one?

So_,
Your observations are correct about the fact that the amount of users is less then it once was.  Unfortunately many users out there in the world dont even know WinMX is back online.  Your right its not the computer however, thanks Chick for your good intentions helping.

The truth is that users = files although we are gaining folks back everyday, through efforts to get the word out there.  For now we ask that you have some patients with WinMX.

Also, something that is very important is making sure your using the filters in your searches, as explained here.

https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/filtering_fakes.html

Those will ensure your not wasting your time on fake users...

One day we will be what we once where, actually better, When you think about what we have accomplished.

This little community at WinMX said.. erm... NO RIAA, you wont be shutting us down.  Now its time to build what we saved.....

I think another point is that users are more careful these days who they let download off them. Did you try joining a chatroom that specialises in what you're looking for?
I've always found it more easy to get files from people I've "met", especially so lately. Besides it's fun and you meet more poeple :)

A good point Nylly, I have many great friends that I can speak to while waiting for a download to complete.

I really do think that its the rooms on winmx that hold our community together  :)

Hi, I appreciate all the help from everyone, and chickenchit, didnt mean any disrespect towards you when I lol. I realize you were trying to help me and it is appreciated.

Yes, I too think everyone is being cautious, as I am also.  Finally got a couple of downloads running this afternoon, finally.

nylly444, good suggestion, never really thought of trying a chat room. I have never really used the chat rooms in all the years I have used winmx, just started it up, and pretty much left it alone. I will give it a try.

Thanks for the link for the search filters me_here. I will definatly be reading up on this.

You know, I have been using winmx for about 4 years now. Started with v 3.26 if my memory serves me correct, and have never used any other p2p app, and am not about to start now. Lets make winmx better than it has ever been before.

Thanks again to all.

It ran all night - then crashed
« Reply #11 on: October 14, 2005, 12:28:46 pm »
I had several of my incompletes make gains last night. When I got up, I saw that WiMx 3.54 with the 4th .dll had finally crashed at 6:30 AM.

So the programmers are getting closer on this. The .dll file obviously needs some tweaking yet.

I have seen my winmx crash a few times just completely at random so I know there is something going on, but curiously i can keep the exact same copy of winmx on the exact same computer running fine for days if it is being monitored by a debugger to find the source of any crashes that may occur - lol
