Called the myKP Hero Platform, the service will go live on Australia Day, January 26th, and promises to lean more towards giving users access to content, applications and media without interference, with service plans starting at $53 USD per month. Australia’s newest ISP, myKP, stands ready to shake up Australian Internet access with the launch of broadband Internet access with no download caps. Giving Australian Broadband users new online access options including no download caps. myKP was founded with the "purpose of being a leader in promoting sustainable communities" that seeks to "research, invent and test strategies that use resources more efficiently and more equitably." “It’s time Australian Internet users had the access they’ve been asking for. We promised you myKP was more than just Free Wi-Fi,” said myKP Director of Stuff, Mr George Kaloudis. The access will be offered initially on limited basis with myKP Free Wi-Fi Community residents the first to be able to access the Hero Platform. “Our Wi-Fi communities have enthusiastically supported myKP and will be the first to benefit, thanks largely to the innovative Local Councils and community groups that have supported our community project,” Said Kaloudis. Kym Fuller, Community and Economic Development Manager, Wilcannia Council said. "We are very excited to offer our residents a no download cap service. We are stuck with one radio station and one TV station but now we can listen to online radio and watch online TV without it costing more than a mortgage." The system works in the same fashion as myKP Wi-Fi hotspots. Users will have access to the Internet via a login page with the added benefit of the same broadband credentials also providing access to all myKP Free Wi-Fi hotspots. “The focus of the Hero Platform leans more towards content, applications and media. It’s continuously evolving into something that places less and less significance on the access and more on what can be achieved with it,” Kaloudis said. The service is fully standards based and there are no download caps with one simple pricing plan. As part of the Hero Platform users will soon have access to a number added features including myKP FM, myKP TV, myKP Music and a number of other myKP initiatives, including voice. “For us the starting point is one plan at $79.95 per month. The full product details will be released on Australia Day and anyone interested can pre-register for an information pack via our website,” Said George Kaloudis. It's nice to see that at least one ISP in the world understands that its future lies in prviding customers UNHINDERED access to content, applications and media. The Internet is more than just about checking e-mail and instant messaging. It could also be that myKP understands that file-sharing, legal or illegal, is what drives demand for faster and faster broadband connection speeds.
