She claims she doesn't even have a computer, but the Motion Picture Association of America Inc. is convinced that she illegally downloaded movies. Now, the association is suing.
MPAA is accusing **** of Dallas with using the file-sharing Web site iMesh to illegally download four movies: "Elf," "The Incredibles," "National Treasure" and "Meet the Fockers."
"Downloading and swapping movies on the Internet is no different than walking into a store and shoplifting a DVD or a VHS tape off the shelf. It's stealing, it's wrong," MPAA spokeswoman Kori Bernards said.
We talked to **** on the phone before she decided to get a lawyer, and she says she doesn't even own a computer -- but her roommate does.
MPAA says it doesn't care. The evidence they have is that the phone line and Internet connection are under ****,s name.
This illustrates a simple fact of the law you cannot be held responsible just for paying for the phone line as they will find out soon enough when they try to get this lady to court rather than trying to bluster her into paying extortion money not to be legaly harassed.
(I have censored the ladys name above as naming people without any court judgement against them is immoral and malicous, I hope you all agree)
