Some of you may have been keeping an eye on the Embassy of Piracy Project below that was set up to look at issues and creativy (and some art) surrounding filesharing, this week one of their spin-off projects was unveiled to the public to complement some of the existing projects.
This is the main site for this group
http://embassyofpiracy.org/This is the pirate kiosk project (basically a wireless wan operated torrent tracker that allows for like minded souls to bypass ISP censorship).
http://www.kioskofpiracy.org/And the new project is this one
http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/HackerspacesHackerspaces are community-operated physical places, where people can meet and work on their projects.
This basically sounds to me like a self organising method for groups of like minded folks to come together for brainstorming and developing both structures and methods for acheiving a stated project goal, in short a "think tank" with hopesully some skilled developers being involved in adding flesh to the bones in the shape of code support. at the moment a small list of global locations that are available for this purpose can be found on the hackerspaces web page but this does sound very promising for the future given that its not run by any official group and thus leaves the way free for folks in need of a net conected meeting place to converge to work intensively on a worthy project, very utopian
I know there is little here for the average WinMX user but atm this group of folks are the cutting edge of resistance to outdated copyright laws and gathering the publics attention to such matters by public activities, anything that can do that will benefit us all in the long run.
