My WCS room is getting attacked?

This has happened all this week. Someone by the name Michael Harding keeps comming in my chatroom and when he says "YOUR ROOM IS F**KED" WCS freezes and crashs.

does anything appear on the console output (the text on the server itself) when this happens? and have you tried looking at your bandwidth usage to see if it is simply a standard DoS attack? (if you don't have any programs to watch your bandwidth usage, i would recommend netstat live)

checked your IP Address and don't see any chat rooms hosted from it, what's the room name?

This has happened to me too. Same Michael Harding person. It happens to all my friends too.


I have Sygate Firewall installed and it doesn\\\'t see any attacks of any kind and when it does crash the Winmx window shows some weird characters then the userlist clears and then wcs crashs.

i cant see it being a dos attack thow. too much of a coincedence that the attack would cracs the room at the same time the text is written

Perhaps a buffer overflow attack, as stated before the simple cure is to ban the IP or block the offending IP in your firewall or Peer Guardian.

I do think its not helpful to have public fighting where it can be avoided, well done for noticing Michael.
